Need help with preparing lessons on Evolution and Inheritance?
In September 2014 a new National Curriculum for Science was introduced in primary schools throughout England, including for the first time the topic of Evolution and Inheritance.
Specifically, the children should be taught the 3 following topics:
1) Recognize that living things produce offspring of the same kind, but normally offspring vary and are not identical to their parents
2) Identify how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment in different ways and that adaptation may lead to evolution.
3) Recognize that living things have changed over time and that fossils provide information about living things that inhabited the Earth millions of years ago.
In these pages from evolutionforprimarykids.co.uk (a website created by Paula Kover and Emily Hogge) you will find basic information about evolution and inheritance and suggested lesson plans and activities.
